You all received an update for 2014 in the above attachments back in November 2013.
I encourage every school to register your event for the 13th of February 2014 with Reconciliation Victoria and thank you to those who have already done so.
We were advised that funding was limited through the Australian Government's Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program and that PROUD RACE project that recognised
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ANZACs wouldn't warrant support.
As most of you know rejection is what I thrive on.
So I have been working away to develop "Deep in the Trenches" project that will commemorate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ANZACS as part of the ANZAC Centenary in 2014, as an extension of the Proud Race Project.
The project will be titled
PROUD RACE - "Deep in the Trenches Protecting Country"
Resources will be available by mid-February in time for Lent ready to roll out on ANZAC Day or Reconciliation week.
What is planned is a year level or whole school activity for Reconciliation Week honouring our Forgotten War Heroes. Using once again bollards to showcase the Aboriginal story in this land.
Sorry for changing any plans that have been organised on your school calendars for the 13th of February and by all means please continue.
I will be in touch soon with all the resources you will need to follow through with "Deep in the Trenches Protecting Country"
